Tonight..N gales 35 kt...easing to 15 to 20 kt. Within 5 nm of brookings southward, nw wind 15 to 25 kt...veering to N 10 to 20 kt in the late evening and overnight. Wind waves N 10 ft at 8 seconds. NW swell 5 ft at 12 seconds...subsiding to 3 to 4 ft at 11 seconds after midnight.

Synopsis for the southern oregon coastal waters..A thermal trough will bring moderate to strong north winds and steep to very steep seas through tonight. Winds will be strongest south of cape blanco. The thermal trough will weaken Thursday, but lingering steep seas are possible. Lighter winds and seas expected Friday into the weekend.
